Summary
Performs MRI or CT scans of designated anatomy according to department protocol and physician specifications. Uses a high-pressure injection of contrast material according to physician specifications on patients of varying ages. Adheres to MRI and radiation safety precautions.

Job Duties

  • Performs and monitors safety checks on patients, employees, and visitors concerning ferrous objects and mechanical devices when working in MRI.
  • Ensures contrast screening form is completed and information verified; obtains labs results prior to administration. Ensures MRI screening form completed and information reviewed.
  • Starts IVs and injects contrast media.
  • Produces images of diagnostic quality, processes images to PACS, and prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Performs all types of imaging procedures and operates all equipment safely and properly including scanners, injectors, and monitors.
  • Provides radiation protection and proper distancing to ensure safety.
  • Obtains proper patient information and documents signs and symptoms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Specialized Diploma Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in CT and/or MRI.
  • Ability to perform imaging examinations using established protocols through completion.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all areas CT and MRI.
  • Ability to work in stressful situations.
  • High degree of maturity and exercises individual judgment in working with patients, equipment, and personnel that are involved in MRI and CT exams.
  • Ability to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, families, physicians, and nursing personnel.
  • RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire and
  • CT - Computed Tomography ARRT - State of Pennsylvania Within 1 Year or
  • MR - Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT - State of Pennsylvania Within 1 Year or
  • ARMRIT - Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist - American Registry of MRI Technologists Within 1 Year
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
