Overview
The Technical Experimental Aquatics Lab (T.E.A.L.) at Utah State University is looking for a full-time (30-40 hrs/week) research and aquaculture technician. The position will last for a period of six months. We currently have three projects underway in our lab that are related to YY production of Red Shiner, Channel Catfish, and Common Carp for invasive species management. Typical duties performed will include but are not limited to feeding fish/maintaining feed schedules, cleaning tanks/automatic feeders, recording water quality and biometric data, maintaining inventory, and data entry. There will also be opportunities to assist with other components of the projects, including genetics research and wet lab work. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can perform job tasks with minimal supervision. A desire to work in aquaculture or the natural resources field is preferred. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 30-40 hours/week.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license to perform essential job responsibilities
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to and from Millville
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Aquaculture experience
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Mechanical aptitude

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work performed. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
