Department Information
The SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY & BIOCHEMISTRY at the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY invites applications for a Financial Administrator Lead. The school has vibrant undergraduate and graduate programs, with over 350 undergraduate majors and 160 graduate students, and an extensive research portfolio. Its faculty, staff, and students participate in a range of dynamic and collaborative research programs and enjoy modern facilities located on a pleasant urban campus in the City of Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Summary

Provide unit level team leadership and expert advice and problem solving related to financial matters. Perform advanced financial records maintenance and report preparation and reconciliation within the business area of academic, research unit or non-academic department. Coordinate those activities with other campus units. Work will involve records, reports and proposals related to funding from various sources, budgeting and accounting. May supervise or provide guidance to other finance or accounting personnel. This position will interact on a regular basis with: unit management, staff, sponsors, vendors, faculty, students and co-workers. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit financial or accounting staff, faculty, staff and students.This position will supervise: may supervise assigned financial or accounting staff personnel.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Within an academic or research unit, develop prepare financial data related to proposals, grants and contracts, general appropriations, endowments and other funds.

Job Duty 2 -
Generate data for use in budget amendments and other budget related reporting.

Job Duty 3 -
Manage the recording of financial transactions and generation of financial related reports on both scheduled and ad hoc basis.

Job Duty 4 -
Collect, reconcile and audit monthly unit expense transactions.

Job Duty 5 -
Review or approve payroll, time documents and personnel action forms.

Job Duty 6 -
Coordinate unit financial related actions with Institute financial units.

Job Duty 7 -
Recommend & implement changes to unit financial or accounting procedure and process as appropriate.

Job Duty 8 -
Provide work related advice and direction to other unit financial or accounting personnel: may also supervise those personnel.

Job Duty 9 -
Identify training needs and deliver training to departmental faculty and staff as required.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Four to six years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of and skill in applying accounting principles and practices within a university business environment is preferred

SKILLS
This job requires advanced knowledge of and skill in applying general accounting principles and practices within a business environment. Additionally required are attention to detail and accuracy and use of office and specialized accounting related computer applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Salary range: $55,029.00-$74,841.00
