Job Description:
The Packaging Attendant sets up, adjusts, operates and monitors the slicers, wrapper, metal detector and checkweigher. He/She will perform mechanical and preventative maintenance procedures on the above listed equipment. The Packaging Attendant will initialize the changeover between varieties and assist Helpers when necessary. He/She will clean all related equipment between changeovers. The Packaging Operator will perform all allergen clean ups and quality checks in accordance with standard procedures then neatly and accurately fill out all necessary paperwork. Responsible for area housekeeping and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Functions:
1) Review pertinent information with the previous shift i.e. mechanical issues etc
2) Monitor slicer for proper number of slices
3) Monitor heat line on the wrapper to assure proper seal
4) Monitor product flow to the wrapper, so it does not jam
5) Change film on the wrapper when needed
6) Change blades on the slicer when needed
7) Set lugs and former to assure proper wrapping
8) Set check weigher to proper product and perform checks
9) Set Metal Detector to specifications for product running and perform checks
10) Assist with the re-wraps as needed
11) If running the recip slicer - change slicer heads when needed
12) Perform routine preventative maintenance
13) Utilize technical manuals and blueprints
14) Train new employees to the position
15) Neatly and accurately fill out all necessary documentation (Ex. HACCP - CTS)
16) Maintain a safe neat and clean work area accordance with GMP and good housekeeping practices
17) Communicate with co-workers and supervisors
18) Follow all JSA guidelines
19) May have to train on a different shift for the position.

Qualifications:
Has demonstrated success as a backup Packaging Attendant in Lakeland and/or has had prior job experiences on similar equipment as outlined in the job description. Any formal technical schooling will be considered.

Note: This position will be awarded to the employee who possesses the necessary experience and mechanical aptitude needed to qualify for the job. Consideration of past job history including performance, safety and attendance, will be a part of the evaluation process. This position will not be awarded solely on the basis of seniority.

Work Conditions:
1) 8-12 Hour shift. Will receive 2 fifteen-minute breaks and one-half hour break. Overtime is required.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
