Role Summary

Internship Term:

Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates.To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027.

Note that if your university has specific requirements for internship programs, it is your responsibility to fulfill those requirements.

The Product Excellence Department at Rivian focuses on Engineering, Analysis, and Validation to discover, analyze, resolve, and validate functional and quality issues in vehicles produced at the Normal Plant. Working closely with Service Centers, we support problem identification, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis.


Responsibilities

  • Issue Identification: Research and identify concerns using plant and field data, quality sensors, and independent testing methods.
  • Project Development: Undertake a project supporting the Product Excellence mission that enhances learning and growth.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Use robust root-cause determination and verification processes for vehicle and subsystem issues.
  • Resource Assessment: Identify additional resources to support learning and growth as needed.
  • Progress Reporting: Report regularly to leadership on project progress.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Mechanical, Aerospace or Industrial Engineering
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in computer use, and advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalents). Knowledge of Tableau and Confluence is a plus.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated project skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment.
  • Manufacturing/Assembly: Experience in manufacturing or assembly processes is preferred.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with statistical process control and control charts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with varying degrees of variables where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient in communicating results and needs in professional-level US English

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.

Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
