Application Window Open date: November 4, 2024 Most recent review date: Tuesday, Nov 19, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Monday, May 4, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Specialist Position: Glioma Surgical Biospecimen Researcher and Outcomes Coordinator Roles and Responsibilities Highly motivated individuals with laboratory research experience are being recruited for this research position as a junior specialist. This position is a hybrid position with time spent in the operating room during glioma resections assisting with tissue biospecimen collection and processing as well as clinical data entry/documentation. The position does involve direct interactions with patients with brain tumors. This position will be responsible for collecting tissue from the operating room, documenting the clinical correlations associated with this tissue, and performing standard lab assays to evaluate various immunological and tumor properties in this human tissue. These projects should provide the opportunity for this individual to contribute to gain valuable skills in data management, data analysis, and manuscript writing in addition to earning significant patient-facing experience and interacting with multidisciplinary members of the health-care team. The expectation is this individual will contribute to and be a co-author on multiple peer-reviewed publications and have the opportunity to present their work at the leading scientific meetings in the fields of neuro-oncology and neurosurgery. This individual will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other research groups exploring tumor immunology and novel mechanisms of tumor detection.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
